Sleep Away Fishing Camps

Sleepaway fishing camps are the ultimate summer experience for young anglers.  There are many types of fishing camps out there.   For example, some camps focus on saltwater species.  Meanwhile, others target freshwater species on lakes, rivers, and ponds.  If your kids love to fish for largemouth and smallmouth bass, then there is a camp you must look into.

Candlewood Fishing Camp

Candlewood Fishing Camp is the ultimate fishing and camping experience for young anglers and outdoor enthusiasts. The camp is nestled on 100 acres of woodlands with a direct waterfront on Candlewood Lake. Campers will fish for world class-sized smallmouth and largemouth bass with the top area fishing guides and tournament anglers. Candlewood Lake is repeatedly ranked in Bassmaster Magazine’s Top 25 Best Lakes to Fish for Bass in the Country.  It is a favorite destination among both recreational and tournament fisherman. Campers will learn how to implement the best techniques to target various species.   Meanwhile, the primary focus will be on post-spawn bass while fishing on state of the art fishing boats. Anglers will leave camp proficient in fishing topwater, spinnerbaits, plastics, pitching a flipping grass, drop shotting, dock fishing and live bait.

More activities

In addition, campers will also learn to target the other game fish species that inhabit the lake.  Crappie, perch, and trout to name a few.  In the spirit of competitive fishing, they will engage in week-long tournaments.   Trophies will recognize winners in several categories.  For example, the biggest bass, most species caught, total weight and more.  Other activities at camp include canoe fishing, shore fishing, and night fishing.  Further, swimming, tubing, hiking, lure making, team-building activities and more. Importantly, there is a strong emphasis on boating safety and sun protection.  Also, ethical catch-and-release practices, and building life-long friendships.  Campers will sleep in comfortable cabins with lake views.   They will learn how to be self-sufficient, resourceful, and technology-free.
