Sleepaway camps in PA

Sleepaway camps in PA are a great way to enjoy the outdoors.  Pennsylvania offers many state parks and forests.  All of them offer amazing outdoor adventures.  There are rugged experiences and luxury places to stay.  The parks offer accommodations for large and small groups.  For example, state park inns, deluxe cottages, and campsites.  In addition, trail shelters, and organized group campsites.

Overnight in State Forests

If you want to stay in the state forests, you’ll have to give up those modern conveniences.  First, state forests offer primitive camping without any modern facilities, dump stations, water, or utility hook-ups.  As a result, this is where you want to stay to get a true wilderness camping experience!  Whatever you choose, you’ll want to stay overnight to see some spectacular sunsets and great views of the stars, and experience more of what PA state parks and forests have to offer.

Fishing in PA

Make sure you bring a fishing rod with you on your camping trip.  The state offers some of the best fishing in the United States.  The largest lakes are Wallenpaupack and Erie.  These are the places to go if you have larger boats with big motors.  Above all, they are the most famous in the state for huge bass.  Further, if you are looking for a river trip, there are many to choose from.  For example, the Allegheny, Clarion, Delaware, French, Juniata, and Susquehanna will produce smallmouth and largemouth bass.

Fishing the Seasons

PA offers great fishing all year long.  Most lakes freeze during the winter and offer great ice fishing.  Meanwhile, the spring comes alive with pre-spawn fishing in the shallows.  In addition, the summer offers the most comfortable weather.  Fishing lily pads with topwater frogs are a favorite among anglers.  Finally, the fall arrives with the fish-eating everything in site before winter arrives.  Some of the best fishing can be had in the fall.
